I Expect Bad Financial Times To Come

I do not see how the European union can survive on its current form. The world needs something to compete with the U.S. Dollar which is a terribly flawed currency. The Euro currency in theory would be good for the world. Unfortunately it was badly executed, a good theory badly executed and now we have many problems.

So, I do not expect the Euro currency to survive and I doubt the European Union will survive as we know it. Because since Brexit occurred it has encouraged many separatists in Europe that want to split up their countries from the EU.

As I expect bad financial times to come, when we have bad financial times, people always look for big change.

The U.S. Will Face a Crisis or A Semi-Crisis

No country has got itself into this kind of situation gets out without a crisis or a semi-crisis. Interest rates have started going back up, if they go to normal historical levels, it is impossible for the United States to pay the debt. We have to face the facts. Trump: Trade Wars, Serious Problems

Trade wars have always led to serious problems and often to real it has led to real war. So the facts are all in place for something like that to happen. I would like to think that there is some way that we can avert it. History does not show us any reason to be optimistic. Now we are going to start focusing on interest rates, in what is happening in the real economy. There is a lot of debt. Trade Wars: It Will Lead to Bankruptcy and War

Trade wars have always failed. Trade wars have always led to bankruptcy and often to war throughout history. Even the people who understand this, sometimes think, do not worry, it is different this time, I can control this. Mr. Trump certainly thinks he can control it, but the facts are this is very worrysome for the world over the next several years.

Many People In Asia Do Not Like Trump

Many people in Asia do not particularly like Trump but that is based on what they read on the mainstream media, their media is like ours, they just repeat what the U.S. and the U.K. say, so, the main view here in Asia is that now the United States is pulling out, withdrawing from Asia and that is a gigantic opportunity for China, and China sees it.

When Will the Dollar Start Looking Like a Bubble

One hundred and ten in the Dollar Index certainly does not sound like a bubble to me. I will just have to judge the circumstances at the time. You will be able to read the newspapers and everybody will be talking about how the Dollar is going to go up forever, you will see on TV that the Dollar is the new promised land.

People will be pouring into dollars...I try to judge those things by the mood. Bubbles throughout history everywhere in the world, no matter the asset, always look and sound the same. I hope I am smart enough to recognize it.

Gold: In The End Gold Will Turn Into A Bubble

I am a terrible market timer and a horrible short term trader. I own gold, I have hedged some of my gold. I expect that if gold gets on one thousand dollars an ounce, I hope I am smart enough to buy a lot of gold because in the end, this is all going to end in huge mess and in a bubble for gold. My price to remove my edges and to buy a lot more gold is under one thousand. (Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (GDX), SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD))

Trump Rally: It Surprises Me That Investors Are So Enthusiastic

It surprises me that people are as enthusiastic as they are given that Mr. Trump says he is going to start trade wars. At the moment everybody seems to be focusing on the fact that he is going to cut taxes which is fabulous for any economy and that he is going to be building new infrastructure that we desperately need. Nobody seems to be focusing on where will the money be coming from, and secondly how are we going to do all this with trade wars.

The Fundamentals For Crude Oil Are Improving

The fundamentals for crude oil are improving. For example, Saudi Arabia has not found any major oil field for a long time. Other big oil producers like Iraq, Iran or Nigeria have not found a lot of oil too. Only the fracking companies have found a lot of oil but they cannot make any money if oil prices are low. Crude Oil Outlook: A Trading Range With Some Upside

I own some crude oil but I am not a good market timer or a good trader. My view is that we are in a complicated bottoming process that could last a couple of years. So far the trading range has been between 30 and 40 dollars a barrel, it will likely be a little bit more on the upside of that range. 60 dollars a barrel is not an unusual price for crude oil. Crude Oil: The Market Is Smarter Than OPEC

The question is that the market is way smarter than oil producers, smarter than OPEC. So, I do not really pay much attention to OPEC meetings. They can sit down and have meetings that will go on for days and nights but there are a lot of oil producers in the world that are not on the agreement to cut production. The OPEC Cut: What's Ahead For Oil?

The OPEC cut announcement is not surprising to me but the key is to wait and see if they really do it. OPEC has made these kind of announcements for decades. Most have not really worked but this one is making crude oil go up and it will probably continue to do so. But what really matter is that crude oil fundamentals are continuing to improve. Finance As An Industry Is In Decline

The finance industry has been good for the past 3 decades, but it was not a good industry to be in the 3 decades before that period. Now the financial industry is declining and in the future. Stock Market: What Is Holding Up The Indexes

In the NYSE there are only a few stocks that are holding up the indexes, Dow Jones Industrials Average (DJIA), the S&P 500 Index and the Nasdaq 100 Index. Ten or fifteen big cap tech stocks like Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG). The assumption is that all of those stocks are going to continue to grow forever, getting bigger and bigger. Maybe some of them will but looking back at history that is rarely the case. Nothing really goes on forever.

What To Expect From Trump?

Take Donald Trump at his word. He says he is going to cut taxes which is great for everybody and for the economy, he says he is going to spend a lot of money on infrastructure. Crude Oil: Don't Pay Attention To What OPEC Says

I learned not to pay too much attention to what OPEC says it will do or not do. They certainly have been talking a lot. But the question with OPEC is that even when they agree on a production cut, than what happens there is always a country or two doing something else under the table, cheating the supply cut deal. If I were you I would certainly not pay too much attention to OPEC.

Right now, crude oil is making a base between 30 dollars a barrel and 55 dollars a barrel. (United States Oil Fund LP ETF (USO), Nymex Crude Oil futures, )

The New Natural Value For The British Pound (GBP)

Given the fact that the debt is so very, very high, the balance of trade is so bad, the City of London is now under so much pressure, Europe is now going to do everything it can to take the City`s business, so yes, a lower price under 1.0000 dollar will be the new normal for the British Pound (GBP). But that is not going to happen this year, that is 3 or 4 years down the road.

My Days As A Hedge Fund Manager

I never set my alarm clock (unless I had an early meeting) because I wanted to be sure that I woke up fully rested and I could hardly wait to get to the office. I arrived in the office and I started reading everything in sight and often stayed till ten or eleven, I often stayed pretty late at night because I loved being there. I wanted to know everything, I felt I had to know everything in order to succeed because the world is always changing and what is true today may not be correct tomorrow so I stayed on top of everything.

How To Be Successful In The Markets

If I told you that you only have 25 investments in your life, you would be very careful and would not jump around, you would not jump in and out,. You would only invest when you knew you had a sure thing. And that is how you become successful at life and in the markets.

Jim Rogers is a legendary investor that co-founded the Quantum Fund and retired at age thirty-seven. He is the author of several investing books and also a renowned financial commentator worldwide famous for his contrarian views on financial markets.

Lessons About Life & Investing

The main thing is to figure out your own passion. Figure out what you love. Do not listen to your parents, your teachers, your friends. Find out what you love a lot. Everybody loves something, sometimes you have to figure out what it is.

Sometimes people will laugh at you if you say, "I want to be a gardener". Some will say, "That is absurd!" But if that is what you want to do and you know it, do it and become a gardener. You are going to be very happy. The people who do what they love never go to work. They wake up every day and start having fun. These are the people that are the most successful, doing what they love.

If you are going to invest, it is the same thing. Only invest in what you, yourself know a lot about. Do not listen to me, do not listen to the TV, the internet, the newspapers. Just listen to what you, yourself know about. You will know better than anybody when something new is happenning, when things are going to succeed and that how you invest.

Being A Contrarian, Buying Panic

Almost every time you buy panic you are going to do okay, as a trader or as an investor. It might be even better for the trader because you can just jump in and buy and then when the rally finally comes, it can be in the next trading session or in the next month, a trader sells.

Central Banks are losing their power. No matter where in the world you look, most of them have done all that they could and they are now losing their power and their credibility. Thank goodness.

The Central Banks we have now are disastrous. America has had three central banks, the first two disappeared, fortunately this one is going to disappear too because these guys are total imbeciles and they do not know what they are doing. They make mistake after mistake, after mistake, after mistake and eventually there is going to be a huge reaction, huge problems in the markets and the people are going to say, get rid of the central bank.

Markets: Donald Trump, Gold

If Donald Trump wins the upcoming election and he really does what he says he is going, things like trade wars then it is bad news for the world. The problem is that trade wars always lead to bankruptcy and often led to war. If this happens you would be better off owning a lot of gold.

Crude Oil : Supply Is Down, Prices Will Go Up Again

Russia wants to cut oil production but I would not do that. I would let the market sort it out.

It may take some time but the reality is that the high cost producers (framers, deep water drilling, oil sands) are stopping exploration and going out of business.

Prices are forcing the high cost explorations to stop operating and what this means is that eventually there will be no oil supply, and the price goes up again. (Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE), Marathon Oil (MRO), Exxon Mobil (XOM), United States Oil Fund LP ETF (USO))

U.S. Debt: There Is No Way America Can Meet Its Obligations

There is no way America can meet its obligations. America is the largest debtor in the history of the world and the debt is going up daily. Wether we are talking about Pension Plan, or medical care or just interest on the debt, you name it. Our debts keep going higher and higher. Do the math, I do not want to sound like a fear mongerer or something, just do the arithmetic, you can add this as easily as I can.

Emerging Markets Will Suffer

Not all emerging markets are the same but most will be affected by the rise of interest rates in the United States. But it will only be a temporary worry because history shows it is only the third or forth increase in interest rates that one really has to worry.

The first rate increase hurts, the second rate increase hurts but the markets usually recovers. I would suspect emerging markets including India will be affected when they raise interest rates in December but there will be a recovery. After that be very worried about 2017 and 2018. Some Chinese companies that deal with the West are going to go bankrupt if they have debt, there is no question about that. Some parts of the Chinese economy, if you are in pollution clean up, you do not even care if America disappears as you are so busy making money.

If you are in healthcare in China, China needs enormous healthcare and Beijing knows that.

We Are Going To Have A Serious Crisis In The U.K.

We are going to have a serious crisis in the United kingdom. The U.K. has huge debts, the U.K has a huge balance of trade deficit, the U.K. has a huge government deficit and if Scotland leaves, which they say they might, that takes the oil, a lot of the oil. They are not going to leave the oil behind. England loses a lot of its income at that point and as that develops the City of London, the financial district will come under more pressure, the Europeans are already saying, "we are going to take our financial businesses away from London now. Paris, or Frankfurt or Amsterdam or same place else is going to take a lot of that business.

Investing: Buying A Stock And Own It Forever

What I like to do is to buy things and own them forever.

What success I have had in investing has usually come from buying stock that is very cheap or that I think is very cheap because even if you are wrong, when buying something very cheap you are probably not going to lose a lot of money.

Of course that buying something simply because it is cheap is not good enough because it can stay cheap forever. So, you must see a positive change coming, I mean something that within the next 2 or 3 years most people will recognize as a positive change.

China No Longer Able To Fuel World Growth Like It Did In 2008 Economic Crisis

China will not be able to help us much this time as it did last time. Who is going to do the heavy lifting? Be worried and be prepared. There is nobody left.

Central banks are going to print as much as they can, the governments in the U.S. and other places are going to spend as much as they can but eventually the market is going to say, "We do not want your garbage anymore. Why Is America In Decline?

There are many reasons obviously. The nation peaked and then gone into decline but perhaps the main reason right now if I had to point my finger on one thing it would be the debt in America.

Every nation in the world history that has got itself into such a debt situation suffered. America is now the largest debtor nation in the history of the world and its getting worse every day. When you have a lot of debt it is hard to grow in a dynamic and dramatic fashion.

We Do Not Have Any Deflation, We Have Inflation.

There is no question that oil prices are down, which means that if you go to the gas station you pay less. But maybe you do not do any shopping, maybe your butler does your shopping. Forex Markets: EURUSD Will Go Below 1.0000

The EURUSD will go below 1.0000, there is no question about it. When the turmoil comes and some of the turmoil will come from Europe because some European countries have problems and the ECB will print a lot more. That will make things much, much worse. If you have people starting pulling out, say Greece pulls out, say Great Britain pulls out, then people will start panicking about the Euro, they dump the Euro and the U.S. Dollar goes higher.

Brexit: I Would Vote To Stay in The EU

I would vote to stay, definitely. First of all, to try to trade with Europe without being in the Common Market is not going to be good, it is not going to be helpful.

And Britain is already in decline over the past few decades, it has huge debt. If you are going to have more difficult trade, it is not going to help you.

Markets: People Will Flee To Safe Havens

There is going to be so much turmoil in the world in the next couple of years, people will flee to what they think it is a safe haven, which happens when there is turmoil. They are not going to buy the Japanese Yen, they are not going to buy the British Pound, they are not going to buy the Russian Ruble. They are going to flee to the U.S. Dollar in this panic.

The Next U.S. President

Whoever is elected President, even if Mother Teresa is elected President, the debt will keep going through the roof. Unfortunately it can happen because they can continue to debase the currency. You may have a pension coming to you of 1,000 dollars a month, you are going to get your pension but in worthless money. And they will pay their debt in worthless money. I Cannot Imagine Buying Bonds Anywhere In The World

I am short junk bonds and I would not buy bonds, I cannot imagine unless it is a very special situation. I cannot imagine buying bonds anywhere in the world except maybe for short term Russian bonds just because the yield is so high. But I cannot imagine buying bonds anywhere.
