We Do Not Have Any Deflation, We Have Inflation.

There is no question that oil prices are down, which means that if you go to the gas station you pay less. But maybe you do not do any shopping, maybe your butler does your shopping. The rest of us we know that insurance prices are up, education prices are up, entertainment prices are up, automobile prices are up.

Very, very few things that anyone can name that are actually down. The Government tells us that there is no inflation that people write to me all the time and ask me where does the Government shop?

Crude Oil: Production Is Being Cut

It is happening but many oil wells you just cannot close them down, in the North Sea for instance, many Russian oil fields you just cannot close them down. First and second of all, many people do not believe when prices are down, it takes a while for it to stink in that they really want to close their fields.

But its happening, its happening now, massive cuts are being made in exploration budgets, it is happening.

In A Serious Panic, Crude Oil May Hit 20 Dollars

As you know, normally when prices go up, they go up too high and turns into bubbles and hysteria and when they go down, panic and fear sets in and markets overreact to the downside.

It looks to me that we are going to have an overreaction in many markets on the downside. How low can Crude Oil go? I think I have said 32 dollars a barrel last time. But who knows? If the kind of panic that we see now sets in, you pick the bottom. I do not know. I am not smart enough. People talk about 20 dollars a barrel. Why not in a serious panic? That is not my prediction but it is what some people are saying and in a serious panic everything overshoots on the downside.

Energy Prices: Making A Bottom

I have noticed that energy prices do not go down much, they do not collapse, even when there is bad news. Usually, when there is bad news and things do not continue to go down, it is likely making a bottom. Iran`s Impact On Oil Prices

Iran has been selling oil, they may sell more now but do not think Iran has not been selling oil. There are plenty of people who would buy it, certainly plenty of people in Asia.

So, whatever oil they bring back on the market it is not going to be that much and certainly not that soon.

Nuclear Deal: It Will Lead To A Test Of The Lows In Oil

Usually when you have a big collapse in anything, it hits a bottom and then there is a big rebound, in America we call it a dead cat bounce, and then you have a second test of the lows. This is going to lead to a second test of the low. There is always a reason for a second test and now we are having it.

Crude Oil Will Probably Retest The Lows

The way most markets work when you have a big collapse, there is a bounce, often called a dead cat bounce and then after a while you have a retest of the lows. I would suspect that crude oil is going to retest the lows which was in the 40s or 50s depending if you are talking about Brent or WTI. But yes, I would not be buying crude oil at the moment because I am looking at a retest of the lows. I expect that test to hold.
